St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & Delta Delta Delta - A Perpetual Bond

Throughout the school year, the sisters of Beta Xi are constantly looking for new ways to raise money for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!  Tri Deltas across the country are united in the effort of helping children from all over the world afflicted with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses.

As our organization’s national philanthropy, St. Jude and Tri Delta have worked together for 25 years to treat children and to find a cure for childhood cancer. In support of our fraternity’s efforts, every Tri Delta chapter across the country has joined forces to achieve the lofty goal of raising $60 million in 10 years. This goal has been achived earlier than planned, in 2022, in just 8 years!!

Tri Delta's Continuing Commitment

Since the partnership began, Tri Delta has funded the hospital's Teen Room by challenging members to raise $1 million over a four-year period.  The Teen Room is a very special place for teenagers to relax, hang out with other teens and take a break from their parents, doctors, and nurses.  The Teen Room is equipped with internet, video games, stereos, and other activities. In the 2005-2006 school year, Tri Deltas raised the bar by raising more than $1 million for St. Jude in a single year.  This donation was one of the single largest gifts given by a sorority to a charity.

Tri Delta members extended their bond worldwide by joining with St. Jude and other institutions around the world, as doctors and researchers tackle pediatric brain tumors, one of the deadliest types of cancer.  Tri Delta then committed to raise $10 million in 10 years to fund the Tri Delta Patient Care Floor that is located in the Chili's Care Center, which is a facility dedicated to St. Jude Brain Tumor Program.  This facility allows for patients to receive more precise radiation therapy.

The Tri Delta Patient Care Floor houses 18 new inpatient rooms that allow the hospital to sustain expected growth rates foreseen over the next five years.  The Tri Delta Patient Care Floor includes the building's main pharmacy, two nurses' stations, a family lounge, an educational office, another Teen Room, and a children's play area. The Tri Delta Patient Care Floor proves the dedication that Tri Delta members across the country have for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

In May 2010, Tri Delta reached our goal nationally of raising $10 million dollars in 10 years, six years ahead of schedule! We even surpassed our goal by $600,000!

In July 2010, Tri Delta announced its third naming commitment, an aggressive challenge to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at St. Jude. In just 3.5 years, Tri Delta met their $15 million fundraising goal. Tri Delta members have raised over $27 million for the children of St. Jude to date. This success is only made possible by the deep commitment of the Tri Delta collegiate and alumnae members from around the country.

New Commitment

Delta Delta Delta Fraternity just announced a 10-year, $60 million fundraising commitment in support of its national philanthropic partner, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In honor of this commitment - the largest single pledge in St Jude's history - the Fraternity will receive prominent recognition on the hospital's campus. Beginning July 7, 2014 the short-term housing facility adjacent to the hospital will be named Tri Delta Place

When families arrive at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for treatment, they don't have to worry about finding a place to stay. St. Jude provides free housing in three locations, and Tri Delta Place will be home to patients and families who are visiting the hospital for eight days or less. The five-story building can house 100 families and has 64 hotel-style rooms and 36 suites.

SFASU Tri Delta's Philanthropic Events

Letter Writing

Once a year the sisters of Beta Xi come together to write letters to all of our friends and family. These letters provide our friends and family a chance to get to know more about St. Jude and to offer a donation to the hospital in SFASU Tri Delta's name. One hundred percent of donations go directly to the hospital. Last year the sisters of Beta Xi raised $13,640 during letter-writing alone!

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake breakfast is one of the largest and most fun events of the year! Pancake breakfast is held at the Tri Delta house and hosted by the sisters of Beta Xi! This event starts at 11 pm on a fall Saturday night and goes all the way into Sunday afternoon! For five dollars a ticket, students, family, faculty members, and friends, can get all you can eat pancakes and bacon! It's a great time for all Greek and non-Greek organizations to come together to raise money to fight childhood cancer along with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! Last year the sisters of Beta Xi raised $11,518.89!

Spring Philanthropy Event

This event is always something new! Our Director of Philanthropy comes up with new and exciting events that change every year! In the past we have done a grill off, dunk tank, axe throwing, and so much more!! We get to have so much fun with fellow students, staff, and Nacogdoches locals, while supporting our wonderful philanthropy! The Tri Delta Beta Xi chapter puts on this event and makes it fun while doing it. It’s an opportunity for us girls to meet new people and inform them on why we love St. Jude so much! This is always a new event and we are excited to see how much money we will be able to raise for St. Jude.
